Unscramble ROT135 files with UnRotter |
||||||||||
|
|
UnRotter is an option
within BLScanPlus. This page documents the UnRotter utility and it makes no difference whether you're using the Classic or Pro version of BLScanPlus unless otherwise specified. |

| Mailwasher stores
some files in ROT135 format, such as the trash file for instance which
contains messages that have been deleted. If the 'recycle bin' option is enabled (Tools->Options->Summary and then enable Recycle Bin) then it is possible to move messages back out of the trash and restore them back into the inbox. With this facility the manner in which the trash is actually stored is not important. However, in order to check through the trash, the ROT135 file is unreadable and needs to be descrambled. As the name suggests UnRotter is a program to descramble ROT135 files, just provide the input file name and UnRotter will generate a decoded output file! I recommend copying the target ROT135 file into the BLScanPlus folder, but the full path to the Mailwasher folder can also be given. UnRotter will generate a decoded version in the program folder. |

| A
word of caution... |
||||||||||||
| A word of
caution though, ROT135 format is used since a trash
file for instance, may contain deleted emails which could contain
viruses.
Scrambling the contents ensures that anti-virus software will not keep
launching warnings about the trash file. Since the UnRotter output file
is merely a text file and is not subject
to any form of file 'execution', it is extremely unlikely that any harm
could result decoding it. But I strongly advise however that you do not
read the
output file into anything other than a basic text editor (like Notepad)
and always take appropriate steps to protect
your computer against Viruses/Worms/Trojans etc. If you just want to search your trash file, or want to find out which email address a deleted email was sent to, then use Totter. |
